Trustee

3xM International is a Christian non-profit organization focused on using media and technology to share the Gospel and foster "intracultural discipleship", particularly within unreached people groups. They empower local leaders with digital tools, training via the 3xM Academy, and culturally relevant strategies to spread the Gospel.

3xM’s main office is located in the Netherlands, but we are also active in fundraising in the United States, Norway, Canada, and Singapore. Currently we are working to expand our fundraising efforts into the United Kingdom. For this purpose, we are working on setting up the 3xM UK charity and are actively searching for trustees.

 

Organization: 3xM UK (to be established) / 3xM International (https://www.3xm-intl.org/)

Location: Remote

Commitment: Voluntary (approx. 8 hours per month, including quarterly (online) board meetings)

Role Summary

Trustees are legally responsible for the governance of 3xM UK. This means they ensure the charity achieves its objectives, which are set out in our governing documents, while complying with charity law, company law, and other relevant legislation.

As a Christian organization, the Trustee must align with our Statement of Faith and ensure that our activities are driven by Christian principles and ethos.

 

Main Responsibilities

1. Strategic Direction & Governance

Set the vision, mission, and strategic direction of the charity, ensuring it aligns with our Christian ethos and charitable objects.

Ensure the charity complies with its governing document, charity law, and company law.

Act in the best interests of the charity, avoiding conflicts of interest.

 

2. Financial Stewardship & Accountability

Ensure the financial stability of the charity, setting appropriate budgets and monitoring financial performance.

Manage the charity’s assets and resources responsibly, ensuring they are used efficiently and solely for the charitable objects.

Protect the reputation and good name of the charity.

 

3. Spiritual Leadership & Ethos

Safeguard the Christian values, mission, and culture of the organization.

Commit to prayerful discernment regarding the strategic direction of the ministry.

Act as an ambassador for the charity, representing its work within the broader Christian community and the public.

 

Person Specification (Qualifications & Experience)

Essential: A committed Christian in sympathy with the aims and beliefs of 3xM.

Essential: Integrity, good independent judgment, and the ability to think creatively.

Desirable: Experience in a specific area such as theology/ministry, charity finance, HR, legal, IT, or fundraising.

Desirable: Prior experience as a trustee or in a senior management role.

 

Time Commitment & Requirements

Attend 4 Board (remote) meetings per year.

Read board papers and prepare for meetings in advance.

Actively participate in sub-committees (if required).

 

Note: This is an unpaid position, but reasonable expenses can be claimed.
