As Heritage Schools Worker you will develop creative ways of telling the amazing story of George Müller and his 10,000 orphans to inspire the next generation of the significance of faith. Using your experience in the education sector, you will build on existing school relationships as well as develop new ones to develop curriculum compliant lessons that will enrich the history, culture, and faith of staff and pupils alike, pointing them not just to a story of pioneering social change, but to the God who made it possible.
1. Tell the George Müller story with children of the Bristol region
- Deliver curriculum appropriate lessons (typically RE or History) on the George Müller story to primary and secondary pupils.
- Promote and host school visits to the George Müller Museum (GMM)
- Engage with other education groups (e.g. scouts, youth groups, home-school networks etc) to find opportunities to share the George Müller story.
- Build upon existing relationships with schools and create opportunities for new schools to engage with us.
- Signpost schools and pupils on to wider opportunities of Müllers and our partners where appropriate.
- To train and develop volunteers in sharing the George Müller story in schools.
2. Resource creation
- Develop KS1-4 lessons on the George Müller story that are relevant to the curriculum across the wider Bristol region.
- Develop online resources for schools to share the George Müller story themselves.
- Work with third-parties to write material that will enable the George Müller story to be shared widely.
- Train others in how to share the George Müller story, particularly with under 18s.
3. Play an active role in the the Heritage Department and wider Müllers Team
- To work with the Heritage Lead to assist telling the George Müller story with under 18s, e.g. archive research, museum development etc.
- Deputise for the Heritage Lead in telling the Müller story with other community groups if required
- To lead team prayers approximately once a fortnight.
- To assist in welcoming visitors to the George Müller Museum (possibly including Saturday mornings).
- To contribute to the fundraising efforts of the charity, namely through prayer for financial provision
- Undertake any other duties as may be requested by the Charity Leader or Deputy Leader as may be commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.
- To work with the key values, ethos, equal opportunities, and other policies of The George Müller Charitable Trust. We depend on God’s provision, through answered prayer, therefore you will be required to actively share in the prayer life of the charity.
