Bridge Community Church is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Children/Youth Leader to help lead and develop ministry for children and young people aged 10 to 13. This role is a key part of our 0 to 18 Children & Youth Ministry and will focus on helping children grow in faith through engaging Bible teaching, discipleship, strong pastoral support and well-led Sunday ministry.
The successful candidate will provide leadership for Bible-based activities for children and young people in school years 5 to 8 across our Sunday services. They will help ensure the smooth running of key departments, regularly lead within those teams, and plan and deliver teaching and activities that are creative, relevant, enjoyable and spiritually purposeful.
The role also includes building strong relationships with children, young people and their families, supporting volunteers, preparing rotas, helping to maintain effective communication across teams, and ensuring that safeguarding policies, procedures and risk assessments are followed well. The postholder will oversee relevant ChurchSuite records for children, young people and volunteer teams, and will contribute to the ongoing organisation, safety and resourcing of ministry spaces and equipment.
An important part of the role is to help children move confidently from children’s ministry into youth ministry. This includes leading the summer transition period for Year 6 children into Year 7, including transition sessions and involvement in a summer camp. The role will also include delivering discipleship opportunities during term time and working alongside the wider Children & Youth team to support events, socials, camps, family activities, holiday programmes and other ministry initiatives.
This person will be part of the Children & Youth Ministry Leadership Team and will work collaboratively to support, encourage, plan and deliver high-quality provision for children and young people. They will also contribute to volunteer training, team development and the ongoing growth of the ministry as needs evolve.
We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and families, experience of leading teams, and the ability to communicate well with both children and adults. The ideal candidate will be well organised, able to work effectively in a team, confident in planning and delivering Bible teaching in creative and relevant ways, and comfortable working in a diverse, multicultural church setting.
Because this role plays an important part in delivering the vision, ministry and Christian witness of Bridge Community Church, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the successful applicant to be a practising Christian who can fully support the aims, values and beliefs of the church. We are looking for someone with a strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, Christian maturity, flexibility, creativity, an evangelistic heart and a clear sense of calling to children’s ministry.
