Anxiety, fear, hope, and excitement all seem to be the emotional soundtrack to a first day. Whether it be the first day at school, a new church or work, we all have a story of how it went and how we felt. But how did Mark Cherry, the "new guy" at Christian Jobs, feel his first day went?

Most of us have been there. Anxiety, fear, hope, and excitement all seem to be the emotional soundtrack to a first day. Whether it be the first day at school, a new church or work, we all have a story of how it went and how we felt.

Mark Cherry is Christian Jobs' Newbie!  He started today and he has made a very good first impression on his first day. But how did he feel it went? One of the first objectives he was given was to write a blog about just that. No pressure Mark!

Job hunting is always tough, I have spent the last few years building up my experience across a range of disciplines. With a background in Recruitment and specialising in Marketing, Events, and Operations, I'm sure you can imagine it was very challenging to find a new role that incorporates all my experience in one place. Though it was challenging,  I managed to find one.

So, today I started my role as the newly appointed Sales & Operations Manager of Christian Jobs. I have to be honest, I felt a mixture of nerves and excitement as I walked up to the office door. However, nothing could have prepared me for what I heard after I politely knocked on the door: "GO AWAY...!!!" promptly followed by a much quieter "I hope that was to the right person."

I decided to ignore the warning and opened the door to introduce myself to the team. It gave me great pleasure to see that my desk was already set up with a laptop, phone, headset, charger, mug, and brochure (I even have a plant on my desk). Everyone was smiling and very welcoming which is just what you need on your first day to get you past the initial nerves.

My first day saw me making a brew round (I wanted to make a good impression), a morning team prayer meeting (which was a new one for me), getting all my equipment up and running, spending a bit of time getting to know each team member and then off to lunch for a client meeting and now I'm writing this Blog. The client I met described my day best as a "baptism of fire" but I have had a great day. I have learnt lots and I haven't even scratched the surface yet, I can't wait to learn more.

For those of you that don't know, Christian Jobs is an advertising and employment support platform engineered to connect Christians and Christian organisations. I have been looking for an opportunity to join an ambitious, driven and passionate organisation for the past few months now and this ticked all the boxes for me. This role has also given me an opportunity to get a better grounding in my own faith and explore how I integrate my faith with a commercial organisation.
