Volunteers join the community in early September and work through until July. They can come directly from 6th form experience or from graduation, but anyone 18+ will be considered. Volunteers will need to have enthusiasm to work with young people, good listening skills, as well as a broad christian background and a sympathetic approach to the catholic tradition. They will receive training in first aid, food handling, health and safety, safeguarding, and youth work skills, among many others. They will also work with a supervisor to monitor progress and reflect on their learning. It is an excellent interim step to work with young people in schools, in youth work or social work.
Main duties and responsibilities:
-
Live in Roman Catholic religious community
-
Share faith with hundreds of young people on retreat
-
Assist to lead and organise Salesian retreats
-
