Worship Leader

We are seeking a spiritually mature Worship Leader to help cultivate a culture of prayer and worship within a growing Christian community. This part-time role (approximately 10 hours per week) supports two distinct gatherings: PURSUIT, a Friday night prayer and worship gathering focused on seeking God through passionate, Spirit-led worship and intercession, and PRESENCE, a Sunday afternoon gathering centred on stillness, reflection, creativity, and encountering God through gentle worship and community in Hornchurch.

The Worship Leader will lead worship, coordinate singers and musicians, and help nurture a small volunteer worship team. They will work collaboratively with leadership to shape gatherings that prioritise intimacy with God, prayer, and Scripture-led worship.

This role is ideal for someone who is first and foremost a worshipper, with a vibrant personal faith, the ability to sing and ideally play an instrument, and a desire to help create environments where people can encounter God.

Key Responsibilities

1. Worship Leadership

Lead worship for the following gatherings:

PURSUIT (Friday Nights)

• Lead worship that encourages prayer, intercession, and spiritual engagement

• Work alongside leadership to shape the flow of the evening

• Support moments of spontaneous worship and prayer

PRESENCE (Sunday Afternoon Gathering)

• Lead gentle, reflective worship that creates space for stillness

• Help cultivate an atmosphere of rest and encounter with God

• Work alongside musicians to provide simple live worship

Worship Team Coordination

• Coordinate singers and instrumentalists serving in worship

• Work with existing musicians providing instrumental support

• Help develop a small volunteer worship team

• Organise simple worship rotas

Spiritual Alignment

• Model a life of worship and prayer

• Be sensitive to the leading of the Holy Spirit during gatherings

• Work collaboratively with leadership to support the spiritual vision

Preparation and Planning

• Select songs that align with the flow of gatherings

• Prepare worship sets for both PURSUIT and PRESENCE

• Ensure smooth coordination with musicians and volunteers

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will

• Be a committed Christian with a vibrant personal faith

• Be first and foremost a worshipper

• Be able to sing and lead worship confidently

• Ideally, play an instrument (guitar or piano preferred)

• Be comfortable with Spirit-led and spontaneous worship

• Have experience coordinating or leading worship teams

• Be collaborative and aligned with the vision of prayer-centred worship
