Metro World Child UK are looking for five individuals who are ready to live for God and step out into children’s ministry by joining this exciting new venture as we expand into the UK beginning with Nottingham. This is a residential training opportunity with a paid allowance and accredited qualifications and work experience.  

Job Description Job Title: Intern / Volunteer Children's worker 

Employing Body: Metro World Child UK 

Location: Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. 

Responsible to: Childrens ministry outreach co-ordinator. 

Hours: 30 hrs (part-time and flexible hours will be considered) 

Allowance : £ 120 pw (Full-time and negotiable, depending on experience & qualifications)

Housing: Provided. 

Purpose of the job: 

The successful candidates will be supported and trained in Christian children’s ministry, reaching and teaching a generation of children the good news of the Gospel. Our organisation is successfully reaching 1.8 million children around the world and we are inviting you to join us in reaching the UK starting with Nottingham. In return we will provide the following residential placement with a qualification which has an allowance of £120 a week whilst you are completing your internship / volunteering year. 

You will be a part of our dynamic and creative outward looking team that are professional friendly and caring. We will together be implementing the Metro model in schools and in the community. 

This will re-establish the previous programme that was successfully delivered across twenty primary schools in Nottingham North and reaching 60,000 children over 12 months. 

You will be working with your lead children’s ministry outreach co-ordinator weekdays and some weekends 

The model consists of four key elements 

1: Schools outreach 

2: Church partnership 

3: Home visits 

4: Best hour of the week party (kids church experience)

Main Duties and Responsibilities: The duties below show the breadth of work undertaken within the role.

  1. Support your team and manager in developing relationships with primary schools and build a school’s network within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. 
  2. Support in the planning and actively participate in the work with schools including presenting in the school assemblies and the best hour of the week. 
  3. Promote the personal, social, spiritual and educational development of children through regular assemblies, lunchtime clubs and afterschool parties.  
  4. Be active in home visits and pastoral care following on from the work in schools. 
  5. Provide appropriate pastoral care for the children and families that attend our groups.
  6. Support the relationships with churches and their partnerships with Metro. 
  7. Follow and promote the Metro World Child model and implement organisational procedures, especially relating to safeguarding.
  8. Undertake training as required.
  9. Support the development of future programmes of work with children.
  10. Perform any other related duties that may be required from time to time.
