Head of Mark Drama

The Mark Drama is looking to appoint someone to head up this ministry: it's a part-time role.

What is the Mark Drama?
The Mark Drama is 15 people (8 men, 7 women) from a church or Christian Union who act out every incident in Mark's Gospel as theatre-in-the-round. They do this with the help of a trained Mark Drama director. The Mark Drama began in 2004, is happening in 12 to 15 countries around the world, and is a ministry of Above Bar Church, Southampton.

The Head of Mark Drama will give overall leadership to the ministry (working with the Mark Drama Steering Group). The role will have two main components:   

1. Directing
+ directing some Mark Drama productions;
+ supporting UK Mark Drama directors, helping them to grow in their ability to direct;
+ recruiting new Mark Drama directors and overseeing their training.

2. Managing
+ linking churches and Christian Unions with a director available for their required dates;
+ maintaining links with the Mark Drama ministry in other countries;
+ enabling Christians in other countries to introduce the Mark Drama there.

Anyone applying for this position should
+ believe that the Holy Spirit uses the word of God to change lives and glorify Jesus;
+ have prior experience of the Mark Drama (though this is not essential);
+ understand that the role involves some work over weekends;
+ already have the right to live and work in the UK.

Start date: January 2026
This is a part-time role, averaging 18 hours a week;

Pro rata salary: £14,400.0015,425.28 (£2830,000 FTE).
