Missionary Roles
London City Mission
Have you got the skills needed to mobilise Churches in London for mission in a cross-cultural context?
Do you have experience in sharing the love of God and His gospel within diverse urban communities?
Do you have a passion for mission in London?
At London City Mission, we estimate that one in two Londoners, that’s roughly 4.5 million people, are unlikely to hear the gospel in their lifetime. These are the people who are unlikely to have a Christian friend to invite them to church or introduce them to the hope found in Jesus Christ. Many of those who have never heard the gospel will be from diverse people groups and faith communities.
We are convinced more than ever that LONDON NEEDS JESUS! And we believe that God’s plan is to reach this city through his church. As a Mission, we are partnering with churches who have a growing passion for reaching out to their neighbourhoods with the good news of Jesus Christ, but who need equipping and building up for this crucial work. This role is, therefore, a Church mobilisation role.
We are seeking candidates who have a passion for sharing the good news of Jesus with specific groups of Londoners, and who can also come alongside churches to train and inspire Christian believers to reach their local communities with the hope of the gospel. We are recruiting to the following roles:
-
Missionary in Haringey with Diaspora specialism
The successful applicant will have experience of outreach amongst diverse people groups. They will work in settings that have a lot of social housing, families, and the great diversity of LB Haringey. That could, for example, involve partnering with an Eritrean congregation to reach their Turkish neighbours as well as reaching people from the other 170+ languages and backgrounds. They will also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.
-
Missionary in Hounslow and Ealing with a specialism in Children, Youth and Schools and a focus on people of South Asian background
To be successful in this role you will need to have experience of outreach amongst diverse people groups, including some understanding of South Asian cultures and religions. You will have a passion to mobilise churches to help them develop their outreach and ministry to young people in a diverse urban context, which means you will need to be able to engage and communicate well with church leaders and partner churches. Our Missionaries also need to be able to raise ministry personal support, including a target financial support as well as prayer supporters for the work of the Mission through personal and church partnership networks.
These positions are full-time, permanent appointments. Starting salary is £21,720 per annum plus £1,100 per month housing allowance (taxable). Mission housing will be discussed with successful candidates after probation. Target for personal financial support is £8,500 for the year 2024. This will increase slightly in 2025.
There is an occupational requirement that the persons appointed be an evangelical Christian. Occupational Requirement provision of the Equality Act 2010 applies. The appointed candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
