Hours: 30 hours per week [4 days]
Salary: £28-30k p.a pro rata
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Finance and Operations Manager to provide robust financial and operational oversight for our vibrant and expanding church community. This is a key management role, ensuring effective systems are in place to support our vision. The successful candidate will manage the church's finances and oversee daily operations working closely with church leadership, trustees, staff, and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
• Have key role on staff team working relationally with team, trustees, banks, external accountants
• Financial Oversight: Oversee all aspects of church finances including day-to-day payments, recording, cashflow management and manage operational budgets
• Reconciliation: Manage bank reconciliations, on line giving, expense accounts, cash management, gift aid declaration, allocation, recovery and HMRC submissions
• Financial Reporting: Produce regular management accounts and budget reports. Work closely with trustees and external accountants to produce year end reconciled accounts
• Budgeting: Coordinate preparation of annual budgets, work with staff and trustees to produce forecasts and budget proposals
• Operational day to day oversight for ministry logistics, coordination and planning including specific projects oversight
• Policy and Compliance: Work with staff and trustees to ensure good governance H&S, GDPR etc, manage databases, insurance cover, etc
• Facilities and Infrastructure: Oversee buildings, maintenance, equipment, supplier contracts (utilities, cleaning, etc.)
• Purchasing: Manage supplies, subscriptions, equipment purchasing
• Teams: Provide operational support and ministry support as required for special events
Person Specification
• A committed, practicing Christian with a strong personal alignment to the church’s vision, and values (a genuine occupational requirement under the Equality Act 2010)
• Proven experience in finance reporting and operations management
• Previous experience as part of a church team as staff or volunteer
• Relevant finance and operations qualifications
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work well with others
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software - Xero, MS Excel, etc
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and willing to be a member of the disclosure Scotland PVG [Protecting Vulnerable Groups] scheme
