Primary Purpose

To coordinate and oversee the day-to-day operational running of their office and field teams, ensuring the effective delivery of their mission, strategy, governance, and ministry.

Reporting & Key Relationships

  • Reports to: Chief Executive / Team Leader (CE/TL)
  • Member of: Executive Committee
  • Line management responsibility for: Marketing & Communications Officer
  • Works closely with: Trustees, Regional Team Leaders (RTLs), Principal Support Organisations (PSOs), and international partners

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategic Support

  • Deputise for the Chief Executive/Team Leader (CE/TL) as required, including chairing meetings and Pray and Plan (P&P) meetings of headquarters and field staff.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to the CE/TL, supporting strategic thinking, risk assessment, and the development of operational and budgetary options.
  • Monitor and support the operational implementation of their strategy across office and field teams.

Operations & Management

  • Ensure the efficient day-to-day organisation, including the development and maintenance of effective electronic and remote working practices.
  • Act as gatekeeper for operational issues, triaging concerns and coordinating their effective resolution.
  • Supervise administrative support for overseas Regional Team Leaders (RTLs) and field staff.
  • Line manages the Marketing & Communications Officer.
  • Be the main point of contact for general enquiries relating to their organisation.

Governance, Compliance & Policy

  • Act as company secretary for the charity.
  • Act as first point of contact with HMRC, the Charity Commission, Companies House, and their bank (Barclays).
  • Support the secretarial role in the preparation and recording of trustee meetings (Finance & General Purposes Committee and full Board meetings).
  • Oversee and attend to legal and regulatory matters relating to their organisation, including:
    • Health & Safety at Work
    • Employment Law
    • Data Protection
    • Charity Law
  • Conduct, with the CE/TL, an annual review and update of their Policies and Standing Instructions.
  • External Relations & International Engagement
  • When required, liaise with:
    • Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF) Vice Presidents (Europe, Africa, South Asia, Middle East)
    • Chief Operating Officers / Deputy Directors of Principal Support Organisations (USA and South Korea)
  • This liaison includes prayer and spiritual support, often in multicultural and multilingual contexts, with and without interpreters.
  • Undertake international travel as required in support of their field programme or in consultation with other military ministries, in cooperation with the relevant RTL and CE/TL (anticipated to be at least two occasions per annum).

Spiritual Leadership & Ministry

  • Participate in and help lead their fortnightly Executive Committee and Staff Fellowship Zoom meetings, including Bible study, reflection, and prayer (on a rotating basis).
  • Maintain unity, cooperation, and cohesion across the team and supporter base through relational and prayerful leadership.
  • Provide personal ministry, including Bible teaching and prayer ministry, to international Military Christian Fellowships as required.

  • Willingness to work across Christian traditions (Catholic, Protestant, Pentecostal, Orthodox) and alongside chaplains.

Desirable:

  • Military experience (regular, reserve, or as a serving/former spouse), with an instinctive understanding of military ethos and culture.

Occupational Requirement

As a member of their Executive Committee, the post holder is expected to uphold the organisation faithfully in prayer and to exercise a prayer ministry within the team, including participation in the Headquarters Pray and Plan Group.

In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, and due to the context and nature of the role, there is an occupational requirement for the post holder to be a Bible-believing, practising Christian. The post holder must be committed to their vision and Basis of Belief and able to demonstrate active support for, and contribution to, its Christian ethos.
