As a member of the Verger team, to have responsibility for ensuring that the Cathedral is presented in the very best way at all times for worshippers, visitors and the general public in order to provide a safe and welcoming environment.

The FTE annual salary is £27,875, this is a part time role based on 0.8 FTE. Full time vergers work a 40 hour week and this post-holder will work 32 hours per week on a 5 day rota which will include regular weekend, and some evening, working.
The Cathedral is usually open between 7.00am and 6.45pm and the Vergers’ team is responsible for its opening and closing.
The successful applicant will also be required to be on-call for two evenings per week, this is paid separately and in addition to the annual salary, but they should live within 15 minutes of the Cathedral to enable a prompt response.
