Purpose

As a Data Selection Officer, you will play a pivotal role in selecting and segmenting support data to tailor communications to our supporters and churches. The quality and precision of our data directly impact our ability to inspire and equip supporters so they can make change happen through giving, acting and praying with us.

Please note that this is a part time role; 22.5 hours over 3 days (any days). The job is based at our head office in Bradford, with the option for hybrid working.

Responsibilities

 

  • Create targeted, segmented data selections for our supporter appeals and journeys (email, postal and phone campaigns), pulling data from our CRM (Salesforce) and manipulating it in Excel or Google sheets where required.

  • Manage the ongoing relationship with our external postal mailing house, including booking of upcoming mailings, estimating direct mail sizes for quotes and managing each specific mailing with them.

  • Coordinate proofs approval with our mailing house to guarantee accuracy and consistency in all communications.

 

  • Create data sets for email campaigns and calling lists tailored to specific projects

  • Clear communication with Supporter Development, Philanthropy, Communications & Digital teams for each fundraising campaign, pulling together data segmentation requirements and specifications; advising how best to manage the segments for each appeal.

  • Producing Data and Digi Specifications

  • Creating, monitoring and analysing data on both ongoing and a one off basis as per the needs of fundraising teams. Ensuring good monitoring of key data to help teams review the effectiveness and track performance of fundraising campaigns and projects.

  • Responsible, in collaboration with Fundraising & Communications teams, for ensuring we are coordinating who is getting what communication and avoiding duplication and over-communication. 

  • Advising Fundraising managers on decisions around the hierarchy of campaigns and supporter segments.

  • Build a deep understanding of our supporter data, and the ways in which our supporters engage with our marketing strategies 

  • Providing basic appeal performance.

  • Working closely alongside the wider Fundraising Department and the Data and Insight Team.

  • Develop and apply formulas and functions, such as XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, and nested IF statements, to streamline calculations and automate routine tasks.

Measurable Outputs:

  • Data selections and lists for supporter communications to be produced accurately and on time.

  • Projects booked in with our mailing house to agreed timescales.

  • Level of accuracy in all reports provided with the number of errors at a minimum.

  • Statistics and management information delivered to agreed timescales.

  • All reports completed to agreed deadlines and timescales.

Other Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Being willing to pray with staff and fully engaged with our Christ-centered  culture.

  • Encouraging friends, family and other contacts to support the charity through the Life Changer program, and other fundraising initiatives.

  • Attendance at annual CAP staff conferences.

  • Completing all compulsory CAP training within given timescales.

  • This role falls within the scope of the FCA’s conduct rules, and you will be provided with training as to how these apply to the role.  It is your responsibility to ensure that you follow these conduct rules.

  • Able to use advanced features of Microsoft Word and Excel, including Excel functions such as VLOOKUP, nested IF functions, charts and data validation.

 

Christian Commitment:

 

  • The candidate must be able to give both verbal assent to and practical demonstration of Christians Against Poverty’s Statement of Faith and Core Values.

  • Must be able to actively participate in prayer and worship, whether individual, small group or corporately, as an expression of their own personal faith and in line with CAP’s Statement of Faith.

 

All adults working in or on behalf of CAP have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and adults. This includes: 

  • A responsibility to ensure a safe environment in which CAP services can be delivered. 

  • Identifying children and adults where there may be safeguarding concerns.

Following the CAP Safeguarding policy in addressing any concerns appropriately.

Educational requirements

 

 

  • A level or above, with an understanding of problem solving and analysis

Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience databases and data segmentation and selection 

  • Experience of data visualisation and reporting tools

  • Experience of having to work using your own initiative

  • Experience of having to meet deadlines or targets

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Experience of using the Salesforce CRM (desirable)
