Salary: £29,924 per annum (Band 4.1) Fixed point

Hours of work: Full time 35 hours per week

Start Date: 1st September 2022 or as soon as possible after date

Contract term: Five-year contract (funded post)

Normal place of work: Church House, 90 Deansgate, Manchester M3 2GH until the anticipated move to St John’s House, Bury BL9 0NE in January 2023

The Manchester Diocesan Board of Education (MDBE) fully supports this vision through its work with churches and church schools across the Diocese.

In order to support this growth, we wish to appoint an Early Years Worker who will ensure Early Years ministry is resourced effectively within our deaneries, Mission Communities, parishes, churches and schools.

Working collaboratively with our Children, Youth and Families Programme Manager, the Director of Education and other colleagues, the postholder will provide support on a wide range of early years ministry related areas. This will include promoting the growth of ministry within our communities, and supporting our new mission communities in establishing toddler praise sessions, as well as equipping and supporting toddler groups.

Who is our ideal candidate? You will have significant experience of working within early years settings or with early years children, and will have experience of leading worship with early years children. You will have a real appreciation for new ways of being church, including Fresh expressions and intergenerational worship and well as being able to work with diverse communities. Excellent communication skills are essential as you will need to interact daily with a variety of stakeholders and able to communicate your achievements through report writing. As you will be delivering training on early years issues, you will also have an up to date knowledge of your subject area and skills in training delivery.

There is an Occupational Requirement for the post holder to be a practising Christian in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.

As the role will require extensive travel, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle will be required. The successful candidate will also be required to complete a DBS check at enhanced level with barred list check.
