We are seeking a passionate and inspirational Ballet Teacher to join our team, dedicated to teaching children aged 4-6 years old. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ballet and a genuine love for working with young children. This role focuses on introducing ballet movement through artistic play, fostering creativity, coordination, and self-expression in a nurturing environment.
Start Date: 7 April 2025
Time Commitment:
Ongoing: One year (minimum)
4-5 hours a week (excluding Bank holidays, select days when venues and the Education Support Group are closed and during the Ballet teacher's holiday period)

3.00pm-4.30pm (with the possibility of an additional one hour class)

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Development:
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans that incorporate ballet fundamentals through imaginative play.
- Create age-appropriate activities that promote physical development, rhythm, and musicality.

Class Instruction:
- Teach ballet classes (ballet through art) to children aged 4-6 years, focusing on basic movements, body awareness and creative expression.
- Be creative: Use storytelling and interactive games to make learning fun and accessible.
- Incorporate independent learning and curriculum-focused instruction into classes.

Child Engagement:
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere where children feel safe to explore movement.
- Inspire students by demonstrating enthusiasm for ballet and celebrating their progress.

Parent Communication:
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child’s development and class activities.
- Provide feedback on student progress and encourage parental involvement in the Education support Group.
- Encourage parents to connect with other parents and visitors.
- Modelling friendship and connection amongst children.

Hall/Classroom Management:
- Ensure a safe and organised classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Manage class dynamics effectively while maintaining cleanliness and discipline in a gentle manner.
- Request children wear ballet outfits (permitting new children, any child yet to receive their uniform or any child who forgets their outfit, to not be made to feel left out)

Professional Development:
- Stay updated with current trends in early childhood education and ballet pedagogy.
- Participate in workshops or training sessions to enhance teaching skills.
Qualifications
- Education: A degree or certification in dance education or related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience teaching ballet or dance to young children is highly desirable.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of ballet techniques suitable for young learners.
- Excellent communication skills with both children and parents.
- Ability to create an engaging, fun, and supportive learning environment.
