Children & Families Lead

We're looking for a dynamic, energetic leader who's passionate about seeing families and young lives transformed by the gospel. If you love Jesus and are excited by the prospect of building on a solid foundation of kids' work to bless and engage children aged 0-11 and their families, as well pioneering new initiatives, and recruiting and training teams of volunteers who carry the same heart, we want to hear from you.

About us

Citygate Church is a growing, vibrant and diverse community of evangelical Christians who meet across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) - with a healthy online audience and increasing reach nationally and even globally. Citygate Kids (0-11) currently serves around 100 -120 children at our Sunday services across two sites (three congregations) - and growing - and runs a number of mission events for the community throughout the year. Find out more about us on our website: https://citygate.church/kids

The role

The successful candidate will be instrumental in realising our vision of reaching families with the transformative good news of Jesus. This role involves creating an engaging, nurturing and inclusive environment where children can learn about faith, experience God’s love, and flourish in their relationship with God and others. You will develop and implement innovative programmes that engage both children and their families, fostering a strong community rooted in biblical teaching. By partnering with parents, volunteers, and the leadership team, you will ensure that every child is supported, valued, and encouraged to grow in their relationship with Jesus, laying a solid foundation for lifelong discipleship.
This a team leadership role, reporting in to a member of SLT; and will include the following elements:
  • Leading our Children & Families ministry: planning, organising and administering team rotas and resources for each team, every Sunday across multiple sites and congregations.
  • Discovering gifted voluntary leaders who share the same vision to see the lives of children transformed by the good news of Jesus. Developing and deploying these leaders into areas of serving that will shape and grow Citygate Kids and impact the local community; as well as equipping these leaders to recruit volunteers to enable the growth of this ministry.
  • Developing and implementing a fun, engaging, gospel-oriented curriculum for all age groups (0-11) in partnership with the Citygate Kids Team, that kids
love to come to and invite their friends to.
  • A missional element: pioneering initiatives to reach children and families not currently connected to Citygate Church. Also to oversee our weekday baby and toddler activities.
  • Holding the responsibility of Designated Child Safeguarding Lead.
More details can be found in the Job Description. The nature of this role is suited to someone with experience working with kids, leading teams and / or volunteers. However, the required experience is our ideal preference; if you believe you have equally transferable skills to offer (for example, you've never managed volunteers, but you have managed a team before) we still want to hear from you. Let us know in your covering letter why you think you'd be a great fit for this role.
