Capernwray is an international interdenominational, Christian Bible School and Holiday Centre located in a beautiful setting near Carnforth in Lancashire.
The international perspective of Capernwray is evidenced by the large numbers of overseas staff, guests and students. Capernwray accommodates up to 160 students or 200 guests.
We are looking for a Housekeeping Manager to ensure that Capernwray Hall is clean, welcoming and available for our students and holiday guests to meet with Jesus Christ, all year round. You will enjoy being hospitable and serving people. It is an opportunity to work with the permanent and voluntary staff team, as well as with students, where you will take responsibility for training, supervision and development.
You will work 37.5 hours over 5 days each week, including Saturdays in Summer and occasional Sundays during the course of each year.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation of the Hall, including common areas, bathrooms and bedrooms for approximately 200 guests, students and/or volunteers.

Train and supervise staff, voluntary workers and students to support you in maintaining this cleanliness and presentation.

Maintain the housekeeping equipment and stock and coordinate Capernwray’s laundry both internally and through external linen hirers.

Create a hospitable and welcoming environment for all guests, students and voluntary workers, responding to guest requests where appropriate.

Manage the administrative responsibilities of the Housekeeping team, including creation of rotas, managing budgets and suppliers and developing standard operating procedures.

Identify and report any necessary repairs and maintenance of accommodation and public areas for the Maintenance Team.

Ensure good Health and Safety standards are kept through regular audits and maintenance of equipment.

To be an active member of the Health Team, assisting with first aid and responding to student, voluntary worker and guest needs. This may include, organising doctors appointments, hospital visits and pharmacy pick ups.
Essential Skills:

Previous hospitality or customer service experience

Leadership skills to be able to train, coordinate and supervise students & voluntary staff

Dependable team player who enjoys working with and encouraging others

Enthusiasm and motivation to take the initiative and deliver the required standards of cleanliness in a timely and efficient manner

Strong administrative skills
