Student Studies Coordinator

Capernwray is an international interdenominational, Christian Bible School and Holiday Centre located in a beautiful setting near Carnforth in Lancashire. Capernwray has gained an international reputation as a centre for full-time study and holidays aimed at enabling people to experience the life-changing work of Jesus Christ. The Bible School courses (Level 3, NCFE-accredited) provide practical biblical instruction, equipping men and women to serve the Lord’s purposes wherever they may be. The School is accredited by the BAC as a short course provider (6 and 3 month courses which can be taken individually or sequentially) and receives glowing inspection reports.
We are looking for a Student Studies Coordinator to coordinate, oversee and play an active part in the procedures for academic assessment of Capernwray Bible School students.
Key Responsibilities:

In partnership with the Bible School Principal, to oversee and administer the Foundations in Christian Life and Service Winter Bible School Course and the Principles in Christian Life and Service Spring Bible School Course.

To effectively communicate all aspects of the Course requirements to the students.

To offer and arrange study support for students where required.

To oversee student assessment, performance, feedback and progress.

To oversee and administer the marking of the assignments and provide feedback to the markers. To internally verify a percentage of the marked assignments to maintain consistency of marking.

To recruit, train, coordinate and moderate the coursework markers.

To keep the necessary records and paperwork that is required by our accrediting body, NCFE, and to liaise, as our Internal Quality Assurer, with our NCFE External Quality Assurer.

To regularly review the appropriateness and effectiveness of current courses and to explore future course development.

As appropriate to gifting and capacity, to contribute to the Bible School teaching provision.

To line-manage and work in close partnership with the Assistant Student Studies Coordinator.

To oversee the School library, including the replenishment of necessary stocks and ensuring its good order and accessibility to all students.

To participate fully as a member of the wider Bible School team, including attendance at team meetings and active engagement in the wider running of the school as required.

To participate in the Holiday Programme, to a degree to be decided in consultation with the Managing Director, Bible School Principal and Holiday and Volunteer Programmes Director.
Essential Skills:

Mature, committed and baptised Christian believer in active and regular fellowship in a local church, able to affirm Capernwray’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Values, Principles and Practices and Policy Statements, willing to work within their
parameters.

Excellent administrative skills and strong attention to detail.

Pastorally competent, with good people skills.

Previous experience in education and assessment.

Proven ability to work cooperatively, harmoniously and flexibly as part of a team.

Evidence of appropriate theological education.
Desirable Skills:
-
Knowledge and experience of Torchbearer Bible Schools.

Ability to speak a language additional to English.
-
Qualification and experience in teaching ESOL.
-
Experience with Google Workspace.
-
Experience of working in Christian residential ministry.
-
Able and experienced Bible teacher.
