Digital Communications Manager

Responsible To:

Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

 

Objectives
Working with the CEO and Abernethy Leadership Team to provide direction, leadership and implementation of Trust-wide digital communications functions. This will include data handling, customer journey, marketing campaigns and events.

 

Responsibilities and duties:

Strategy and planning

  • Create and implement a digital communications strategy covering all areas of Trust activity
  • Assess current and future audiences, planning customer journey appropriately
  • Create an ongoing strategy for growing supporter engagement

 

Digital Communications

  • Work with the Centre Directors to plan digital campaigns and audience engagement suitable for each location
  • To have creative input and oversight of promotional materials, films and publications, project managing any outsourced suppliers
  • Grow audience engagement across the Trust’s social media platforms, training staff on best use of this medium
  • Ensure adherence to branding guidelines and appropriate use of partner organisations brands
  • Oversee the Abernethy website, ensuring content is updated as required
  • Present monthly analysis and reporting across the communication functions; including Google analytics, e-comms and social media campaigns

 

Data Management

  • Review and assess the current data management systems across the Trust, advising Trust Leadership of any changes required
  • Working with the Chief Executive to ensure GDPR and PECR compliance, being involved with staff training on best practice in data handling, protection and management
  • Ensure appropriate analysis and processing of all data held by Abernethy in growing audience and donor support
  • Oversight of the Trust Mailchimp account – ensuring compliance to all data protection legislation and regular review of lists held

 

General

  • To contribute to the Christian ethos of Abernethy, seeking to reflect its vision and values in all your life and work
  • To take an active part in the Abernethy community, building relationships with staff across all Centres
  • To become involved where necessary in related activity to benefit the aims and goals of the Trust, being an ambassador for the organisation

Essential requirements

You will be able to demonstrate:

  • A growing Christian faith and an alignment with our Christian vision and mission
  • Creativity and passion for communicating a message to target audiences
  • Experience in digital communication
  • Experience of creating and analysing email campaigns
  • Extensive experience of using social media to build a brand platform
  • Excellent IT knowledge and skills including website design and development
  • Web analytics skills
  • Knowledge of GDPR and PECR legislation
  • A proven track record in implementing change or development project management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Leadership skills and team management experience

 

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with a church or Christian charity
  • Previous experience of youth work or discipleship
  • An interest in outdoor adventure and the great outdoors

  • It is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the holder of this post is a practising Christian whose lifestyle is consistent with the values and doctrine of the Christian faith
  • As part of our commitment to safeguarding, the successful applicant will be required to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure
