The Boaz Project
A Monday to Friday role working alongside the existing manager. You will provide support and encouragement to a community of adults with mild to moderate learning disabilities coming to this day service to experience work. Surrounded by kind volunteers and set in a beautiful country location the role has love and nurture at its core. You will lead the work in the kitchen, enabling meals to be produced for the community four days a week, working mainly with ingredients sourced from the large allotment area at the project. The days provide challenge and varied work for the adults who attend as members. The work ranges across horticulture, poultry care, woodwork, crafts, cookery and donkey walking.
Operating out of a converted cow barn, the focus is on giving members sufficient challenge and enjoyment of different work tasks each day that they return homw fulfilled and satisfied. Over the past 17 years the project has grown organically to now be a community of over 100 people coming and going throughout the week. You will need to be resilient, physically fit and comfortable working in an environment which is disinhibited, honest, loving and, at times, emotionally demanding. Boaz is a very rewarding family to be a part of and people tend to stay for months and years, not days and weeks.
